Annette Amelia Oliveira

I never dreamed I’d find the perfect voice for Manuel, the nine-year-old boy whose art sparks a journey to find his Mexican culture. When I heard Annette’s audition, I broke out in goose bumps.  She is so gifted that the reader doesn’t notice her gender. She changes her voice to fit the character. What makes her narration so believable is Annette’s passion for the story. She gives the characters emotional depth.

These dark tales often feature the magical, mysterious, and bizarre. A standout, “My Sad Dead,” is expertly performed by Annette Amelia Oliveira, who captures the protagonist’s nonchalance as she explains that she can see ghosts of the dead as they wander her neighborhood.

Oliveira shines as Eusebia, deftly switching accents, pitches and cadences.

You’re doing wonderful work for us…which the Production team highlighted as “timely, beautifully done, and with that perfect twist of storytelling magic that engages our listeners.”

And Annette Oliveira, as Eurydice, Haimon’s mother, took the news of his death with exquisite, almost Oriental submission. Miss Oliveira is a striking girl and a sensitive actress; one would have liked to see her in the lead role.

That was the most entertaining demo I’ve heard in some time. Your take on the omniscient narration has a real verve to it and, as a Bronx native myself, I really enjoyed your outsized take on the character voices.

Manske and Oliveira are the best thing about The Clean House; despite the two-timing involved in their romance, they’re such broadly likable people and their chemistry so gratifying that you become envious. Their entrance 45 minutes in jolts the play to life imbuing the story with humanity and combustibility.

Congrats again on an enchanting story well told! You’ve got a real facility with these types of tales, bringing a delightful sense of drama and energy to the telling. Wonderful work!
