Annette Amelia Oliveira offers...

A VERSATILE ARTICULATE VOICE that loves to have fun. She distinctly differentiates characters and accurately renders British, French, New York, U.S. Southern and other accents. She’s portrayed lots of Latinx youngsters, Moms, Dads and Abuelas. Two books she worked on recently won EARPHONES AWARDS.

AUDIOBOOKS: Annette has narrated for Penguin Random House, Scholastic, Audible, Hachette, Skyboat Media, One Night Stand Studios and others. Genres she records include literary fiction, YA history and fiction, multi-cast books, memoir, horror, self-help, history and children’s books.

DIVERSE WORK/LIFE: A Bronx native, Annette is the child of Puerto Rican and Portuguese immigrants. She’s dwelt in Irish, Jewish, Italian and African-American neighborhoods. She worked in drug treatment programs in Harlem and Hell’s Kitchen. She was a writer for Mexican American and Puerto Rican civil rights agencies and for a water/wastewater utility. Along the way, she learned the language of doctors, lawyers and engineers

ACTING: Annette played grumpy old men, Shakespearian ladies, Argentinian vamps and more on stages coast to coast. She studied with Uta Hagen and is a grad of San Francisco’s Meisner Technique Studio. She took on every role imaginable for SF’s Shoestring Radio Theatre.

EDUCATION: A high school art major, Annette haunts museums worldwide and devours artist biographies. Annette studied English and Art History at Barnard College thanks to a scholarship from Dad’s Union. She also studied Russian and French.

ANNETTE’S PASSIONS: Annette met her sweetie hiking. They’ve trekked through Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Annette started dancing salsa at age four. She attends ballet and modern dance. She explores plant-based cooking and inhales info on nutrition and healthy aging. She studied karate, batik and sewing. (Mom was a seamstress.) Her husband and closest friends are psychotherapists. Annette cares about the environment, she’s an avid reader and she ADORES listening to audiobooks.

Kind Words

I never dreamed I’d find the perfect voice for Manuel, the nine-year-old boy whose art sparks a journey to find his Mexican culture. When I heard Annette’s audition, I broke out in goose bumps.  She is so gifted that the reader doesn’t notice her gender. She changes her voice to fit the character. What makes her narration so believable is Annette’s passion for the story. She gives the characters emotional depth.

Jeaninne Escallier Kato | Author

These dark tales often feature the magical, mysterious, and bizarre. A standout, “My Sad Dead,” is expertly performed by Annette Amelia Oliveira, who captures the protagonist’s nonchalance as she explains that she can see ghosts of the dead as they wander her neighborhood.

Audiofile Magazine Review | October 2024

Oliveira shines as Eusebia, deftly switching accents, pitches and cadences.

Review July 2022

You’re doing wonderful work for us…which the Production team highlighted as “timely, beautifully done, and with that perfect twist of storytelling magic that engages our listeners.”

Paula Restrepo
Virtual Volunteer Engagement Manager, Learning Ally

And Annette Oliveira, as Eurydice, Haimon’s mother, took the news of his death with exquisite, almost Oriental submission. Miss Oliveira is a striking girl and a sensitive actress; one would have liked to see her in the lead role.

Dan Sullivan
New York Times

That was the most entertaining demo I’ve heard in some time. Your take on the omniscient narration has a real verve to it and, as a Bronx native myself, I really enjoyed your outsized take on the character voices.

Thanks…for your lovely work!

Sarah Jaffe
Executive Producer, Penguin Random House Audio

It was great to have you be part of Adamant. Wonderful performances, all of them.

Stefan Rudnicki
Skyboat Media

Truly wonderful performance, especially your parrot, as well as all the other characters, both human and not…This book will be a terrific addition to our collection

Manske and Oliveira are the best thing about The Clean House; despite the two-timing involved in their romance, they’re such broadly likable people and their chemistry so gratifying that you become envious. Their entrance 45 minutes in jolts the play to life imbuing the story with humanity and combustibility.

Congrats again on an enchanting story well told! You’ve got a real facility with these types of tales, bringing a delightful sense of drama and energy to the telling. Wonderful work!
